Hola loves!

We're SO STOKED to announce that we are releasing a NEW ALBUM, Jude Vol. I, February 1 on Modern Outsider Records! The first single, "Lie To Me (Große Lüge)" will be widely available tomorrow (Friday), though you can hear it now by watching the trippy lyric video below (made by our own Joseph Mirasole):

Pre-order Jude Vol. I here

Here’s a snippet from our press release cause it’s late I can’t be fucked to say it better:

The Bright Light Social Hour today announced their third LP, Jude Vol. I, set for release February 1, 2019 via Modern Outsider. The first single from the album, “Lie To Me (Große Lüge),” is available here.

Produced by Chris Coady (Slowdive, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beach House) and recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, Jude Vol. I was borne out of the healing that took place after the band suffered the devastating loss of Alex O’Brien, bass player/vocalist Jackie O’Brien’s brother and the band’s manager of four years, who suffered from severe and sudden Bipolar 1 Disorder.

“It was a terrible thing, but it was also the most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced and probably will ever experience,” Jackie says. “This was all happening as we started the record. Not all the songs are about Alex, but I think even the ones that aren’t all have a bittersweet mix
of overwhelming beauty and terrible loss. The music deals with the ripples it caused in all of our lives, especially in our relationships, with an underlying theme of trying to wrap our heads around all of this.”

Known for their incredible live performances, The Bright Light Social Hour will hit several festivals this spring, like Savannah Stopover, South By Southwest, Boise’s Treefort Music Festival, and Fort Worth, TX’s Fortress Festival. Additional tour dates will be announced very soon.

Jude Vol. I follows the release of an EP, “Missing Something,” whose title track spawned an art house-style video that has since received accolades from the Top Indie Film Awards, the Berlin Music Video Awards, and the Austin Music Video Festival.

We’re so stoked to share this with y’all! Pre-order a copy, cause why the fuck not? I listened to the vinyl test pressing again today. God damn. Chris Coady is an absolute fucking genius.

Anyway, love!
